UN ECLAC Push for Sustainability and Equality to be at the Forefront of COVID-19 Recovery

From October 26th to October 28th, the thirty eighth session of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is being held. The session hopes to discuss how to recover from the COVID pandemic sustainably. The session also hopes to promote a shift toward cultural equality in the region.

On the first day of the session Executive Secretary of the UN ECLAC, Alicia Bárcena, spoke of the need to address economic, social, and environmental factors through effective policy implementation. Policy combinations which may be able to achieve these goals are outlined in the new document “Building a New Future: Transformative Recovery with Equality and Sustainability” which was released Tuesday, October 27th.
