OLADE and IRENA collaboration: Promotion of Renewables for a Sustainable Recovery in Latin America and the Caribbean

On 08. July 2020 the Latin American Energy Organisation (OLADE) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) announced to foster their partnership to promote investments and financing of renewable energy transitions in OLADE member countries and hence support a sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. The partners emphasize that the envisioned renewable energy transitions in the region will improve energy access and security of supply as well as improve health conditions, enable economic growth and create more than three million jobs by 2050.

Investing into renewable energy transitions as a driver for a sustainable recovery is well aligned with the 2019 Lima Declaration of OLADE member countries which promotes regional energy markets and clean energy transition in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
