In August, the UK Government released more details about the new £2 billion Green Homes Grant which will be launched at the end of September. Through the fund, about 600,000 homeowners in England can receive up to £10,000 to install insulation, heat pumps and draft proofing in their homes. By covering up to two-thirds of the costs of these energy efficiency improvements trough grants, the governments hopes to support over 100,000 jobs in the green construction industry.

To insure high quality construction measures, all tradespeople involved in the scheme need to sign up for official accreditation. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak emphasized the importance of the new scheme for a sustainable recovery:

“The Green Homes Grant is a vital part of our plan for jobs as we secure the UK’s economic recovery from coronavirus. This is going to be a green recovery with concern for our environment at its heart. It will help to protect and create jobs, while also saving people money and cutting carbon.”
