On May 28, 2020, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development launched a new working paper that provides insights into lessons learned on green stimulus from the 2008–2009 global financial crisis (GFC). It emphasizes that “proper policy design is critical to prevent rebound effects, limit market distortion and ensuring additionality of public funding by improved targeting.” The paper also includes insights on where the response measures will be different than those after the GFC. For example, the intersection of public health and the environment will likely come much more to the forefront.
